Egypt Day 2: Food and More Food

First of all, I’ve decided to wholeheartedly endorse olives for breakfast. And baba ghanoush. Oh, and fried Haloumi cheese. I’ve been eating so much of it I might burst. I’ve also discovered a new favorite: kochari, the unlikely but delicious mix of macaroni, rice, fried onions, lentils, and tomato sauce. It’s spiced with cumin and maybe chili powder. Wonderful. It didn’t stop there. At a restaurant called Sequoia, overlooking the Nile, I had the most amazing fried eggplant, marinated in garlic and spices (and more Haloumi cheese). Being a vegetarian here rocks.
